Karina is a trauma-informed therapist who works with adults from diverse and minority communities who may feel unseen, misunderstood, or hesitant to seek mental health support. She understands how systemic inequities, cultural stigma, and life experiences can impact emotional well-being and believes therapy should be a space where clients feel safe, affirmed, and respected.
Karina offers culturally responsive, trauma-aware care tailored to each individual’s identity, values, and lived experiences. By building trust and collaborating closely with her clients, she helps them develop practical coping skills, process past experiences, and move toward greater emotional balance, resilience, and empowerment.
Karina earned her Master of Science in Education and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. John’s University and completed specialized training at Yale’s Child Study Center in child and adult abuse. She has over six years of experience working in community mental health and outpatient settings, supporting individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, and relationship concerns. "I’m a huge sports fan. During baseball season, you’ll find me at Citi Field riding the emotional highs and lows of being a Mets fan. In the winter, I’m cheering on my Aguilas Cibaeñas in the Dominican Winter League. I also love soccer and am already counting down to the World Cup rooting for my childhood favorite team, Brasil."
