Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at stephanie@emergentmhs.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Your first therapy session is an opportunity to get to know each other and discuss what’s bringing you to therapy. We’ll talk about your concerns, goals, and any questions you have about the therapeutic process. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. We go at your pace!

Yes. We offer secure online therapy sessions for clients located in New York. Telehealth allows you to attend therapy from the comfort of your home while receiving the same level of care.

We do not accept insurance, but sliding scale therapy options are available. Please contact us directly to discuss current rates, out of-network benefits, and affordable therapy options.

You may also contact your insurance provider to determine if they offer out-of-network benefits that could cover mental health services.

Questions about reimbursement to ask your insurance company:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health coverage?
  • If so, what percentage is covered?
  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and how much of it have I met?
  • How do I submit a request for reimbursement?
  • What is the reimbursement for CPT code 90834?

Someone might choose an out-of-network therapist for greater flexibility in selecting a provider who specializes in their unique needs or offers a specific therapeutic approach. Additionally, out-of-network therapists may provide more personalized care with fewer restrictions on session length or frequency compared to in-network options.

Therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes. Most clients begin with weekly therapy, though session frequency can be adjusted based on your needs, schedule, and treatment goals.

Absolutely! Many people return to therapy after a break due to life changes, scheduling, finances, or feeling ready to re-engage. Restarting therapy is common and often a meaningful step toward renewed growth and support.

To get started, schedule a free consultation call or reach out at our Contact Us page. We look forward to discussing next steps for beginning therapy.
